Historic Kinross lies on the shore of Loch Leven and is surrounded by hills. The island castle where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1567 can be visited in the summer months by small ferry.

Loch Leven is part of a National Nature Reserve, famed for angling and for the thousands of geese and wildfowl which winter here. Many other activities and places of interest abound in the area.
